Loch Lomond Elementary recently received a Learning Barn which was presented to the Library by Elaine Yankey, President of the Virginia Farm Bureau.  The barn was made by students at Brentsville District High School and includes a set of 25 books which accurately portray agriculture.  Loch Lomond was chosen as a recipient of the Learning Barn because of our students' curiosity and outstanding behavior at events sponsored by the Virginia Farm Bureau.

Students display the books they selected from the Reading is Fundamental program which matches books with readers.  Thank you to our PTO for funding our RIF distributions where each student receives free books throughout the school year, including a new book on their birthday. 

   AR stands for Accelerated Reader, a reading incentive program for first through fifth grades at Loch Lomond.  Students may have a book read to them or read a book independently and then take an online comprehension quiz about the book.  Points are awarded  based on the difficulty of the book and the student's success in answering quiz questions correctly.  At the conclusion of each nine week grading period, students may redeem their points for prizes at the Loch Lomond AR Store.
